On Thursday, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released the transcript from its interview with Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson from last November.
Daily Caller‘s Chuck Ross notes:
Though Simpson did not discuss clients, it was revealed in October that the Clinton campaign and DNC were the financial backers for Fusion’s dossier project. Perkins Coie, the law firm for the campaign and DNC, hired Fusion in May 2016 to continue an opposition research project on Donald Trump. […]
Simpson’s Senate transcript revealed little in the way of evidence supporting Steele’s claims from the dossier. Simpson said that he believed Steele’s allegations but largely avoided questions about specific claims made in the salacious document.

When asked by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) if Fusion GPS received information from former British spy Christopher Steele that was “not credible,” Simpson replied no.

Steele, who was tasked with compiling the ‘Trump dossier’ for opposition research firm Fusion GPS, recently admitted in court that the discredited document contains “limited intelligence.”
Steele also admitted part of “his final December memo,” was unvetted.
“Such intelligence was not actively sought; it was merely received,” Steele added.
Josh Levy, an attorney for Glenn Simpson said in the closed-door interview over the summer that somebody’s already been killed because of the Russia dossier.
On the subject of the “killed,” source, Simpson told House investigators that it was likely not connected to Steele’s work, but due to a “an old-fashioned purge.”

Simpson told House Intel Committee members that Nigel Farage allegedly gave WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange a thumb drive containing data and visited “him more often than is widely known.”

The Washington Free Beacon claimed the opposition firm was “retained to do work on a wide variety of presidential candidates, while Glenn Simpson (under oath) portrayed it as a Trump-only project,” reports Wall Street Journal’s Byron Tau.

On Thursday, the House Intelligence Committee quietly voted to release Simpson’s interview transcript and make available to fellow House members “a memo documenting abuse of the FISA program,” reports Fox News’ Chad Pergram.
“Fox is told that while the Intel Cmte voted in favor of the Simpson transcript, Democrats blocked the release of other documents. The committee has also voted on a motion by Rep. Pete King (R-NY) to make available to all House members a memo documenting abuse of the FISA program,” tweeted Pergram.
