Is the word “hypocrisy” missing from the Left’s dictionary?
On Saturday, during curtain calls for Broadway’s A Bronx Tale, an audience member raised a “Trump 2020” banner. The stunt was surely retribution for Robert De Niro’s incendiary June 10th “F*** Trump” interruption of the Tonys.
In response to the pro-Trump display, the show’s hair and makeup supervisor, Brian Strumwasser, performed a stunning online rendition of the ol’ “I am completely, wholly clueless and void of any self-awareness, whatsoever.” Oh, and also a cover of the hit “I’m hypocritical and considerably daft.”
This was Strumwasser’s post on Instagram:
“Whoever the low life scum bag who thinks it’s ok to post their political views at a Broadway show and disrespect everyone there who paid to watch a show that is ALL ABOUT INCLUSION was thankfully removed from the theater Saturday night.”
Let’s deconstruct that for a moment: a show that is “all about inclusion” removed someone.
…Is this thing on??
The video of De Niro’s incredible hijinks is a must-see. Here it is, on glorious display in my article about the incident.
Go over there and check it out. I’ll wait.
…
You done?
I think a perfect response to Bob’s Tonys tirade is…let’s see…oh, yeah — this:
“Whoever the low life scum bag who thinks it’s ok to post their political views at a Broadway show and disrespect everyone there who paid to watch a show that is (or should be) ALL ABOUT INCLUSION…”
I don’t mind the Left. I only ask for three things:
- Be consistent
- Be civil
- Make sense
These are not great requests. Yet, for some reason, I can’t seem to find them in the volume I hope for.
For now, the volume of hypocrisy is turned up to 11.
