Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, Senator Ted Cruz stated that the Democratic House majority “fully intends” to impeach President Donald Trump — no matter what special counsel Robert Mueller’s report says.
Cruz explained that you can already see the Democrats pivoting away from the Mueller probe and pointing to other investigations, like the one in the Southern District of New York and the one in Congress.
“They fully intend to impeach the president and they don’t care about the basis,” Cruz said.
He noted that the House’s focus is much broader than “crimes” — and that the Democrats are obsessively trying to destroy the president.
“What they’re basically saying is that they are going to impeach the president for being Donald Trump — and they don’t care about the evidence,” Cruz said.

Cruz added that the fact that there are no further indictments is “good news for the American people.”
“Those were serious charges when they were raised two years ago. And if the special counsel concluded there is not evidence that that occurred, that would be very good news,” Cruz asserted.
