BREAKING: SHOOTING AT SAN DIEGO SYNAGOGUE — 1 Dead, Several Injured, Including Rabbi – Shooter in Custody — 6 Mo. Anniversary of Tree of Life Shooting

- April 28, 2019

Several people were shot on Saturday at a San Diego synagogue. Police have one man in custody.

The shooting took place exactly six months after the Tree of Life Shooting in Pittsburgh.

One of the victims is said to be the synagogue’s Rabbi, Yisorel Goldstein, who founded the Chabad center in 1986.

There is at least one fatality.
The mayor of Poway is calling this a hate crime.

The shooter reportedly fired off ten rounds before leaving the synagogue.

NBC San Diego reported:

Deputies detained a man following a shooting incident at a Poway, California, synagogue Saturday morning.

There were “several victims with varying injuries,” according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Aaron Meleen.

The shooting occurred at Congregation Chabad just before 11:30 a.m.

The suspect was detained “down the road” from the synagogue, Meleen said.

The Daily Beast says children are among the injured.
