We’re living in strange times. “Morality” used to be a set of behavioral dictates not too dissimilar to the Ten Commandments. But these days, the rules are a bit more complex. Sometimes, it seems, one of the most offensive things someone can do is be born.
On Wednesday, Hollywood actress Rosanna Arquette — whose Twitter profile notes that she “[resists] fascism on a daily basis” — apologized for her skin. And her birth.
She’s sorry for it.
And disgusted with herself.
And ashamed of herself for doing it.
Waaay more advanced than “Thou Shalt Not Steal.”
I’m sorry I was born white and privileged. It disgusts me. And I feel so much shame.

Her tweet probably wasn’t wholly disconnected from one three hours earlier:
The president of the United States of America incites racist violence . The end.

That seems to be a popular claim as of late — see here, here, here, and here.
She also, inexplicably, believes the President — who was loved by Hollywood until 2 or 3 minutes ago — is trying to ignite a race war:
There will be no ban on assault weapons because our govt is using them against us. #TrumpsRaceWar #WhiteSupremacistTerrorism

Are they confusing New York’s eccentric billionaire with Charles Manson?
Honestly, from the things I’ve seen in my performance of this job, it’s less outlandish an idea than it should be.
If you’re not completely clear on who Rosanna is, she’s the sister of actor David Arquette (Scream), fantastic actress Patricia Arquette (True Romance), and actor Richmond Arquette (Zodiak). Her actor/singer/cartoonist brother, Robert (The Wedding Singer), had sex reassignment surgery in 2006 and assumed the name Alexis. Rosanna was featured in Pulp Fiction and The Whole Nine Yards. In 1985, she co-starred with Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan.
Now she’s desperately seeking an end to fascism, racism, and what the Manson Kids hoped for.
And in the fight, as she assured The Guardian…
“I’m a ‘take no sh**’ kind of person. I’ve never kept my mouth shut, especially as my industry is so misogynistic. I’ve got a reputation as a troublemaker.”
Well there ya go.
