A man threw an explosive device, likely a hand grenade, into the US Embassy compound in Montenegro at approximately midnight local time Wednesday.
After throwing the device, the man killed himself.

The State Department confirmed the attack, and stated that Embassy officials are working with local law enforcement to identify all assailants.
