Al-Jazeera Reporter Claims Standard Reporting About Easter Terror Attacks in Sri Lanka is ‘Islamophobic’

- April 22, 2019

Al-Jazeera reporter Saif Khalid declared on Twitter that reporting the facts about the Easter terror attacks in Sri Lanka is “Islamophobic.”

Suicide bombers killed at least 200 Christians and injured 450 more in eight blasts on Easter Sunday. The attacks took place mainly at hotels and churches in Sri Lanka.

As the world watched for more information about who could have committed such a heinous and atrocious act, Khalid scolded an Indian newspaper for reporting the name of one of the suspects and details about a previous plot to bomb Indian High Commission in Colombo that intelligence sources believe he may have been involved in.

Khalid tweeted that the standard reporting was an example of “Indian media’s blatant Islamophobia at display.”

Al-Jazeera is owned by the Qatari government.

Eight people have been arrested so far for the attacks. The suspects have been described as “religious extremists” by Sri Lanka’s Defense Minister Ruwan Wijewardene.
